Obituary

Nobelle Garr, 81, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Edgewood Vista, Duluth, MN.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker, PhD officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM with a 7 PM prayer service on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Nobelle Oma Madeline Furuseth was born in Gully, MN on July 11, 1929 to Peder & Johanna (Fladeland) Furuseth. The family moved to Thief River Falls, MN where she and her family, including eight other siblings, lived. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church by Reverend Gerald Thompson. Nobelle graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947.

She went on to Dakota Business College and graduated in 1948. Nobelle spent time in Grand Rapids, MN where she worked for King Lumber Company as their secretary. In 1959 she went to Sacramento, CA and got a job as a senior high registrar.

Nobelle met Marcel H. Garr and they were married in Reno, NV on September 30, 1962. They had two children Marcel P. and Jennifer. The family lived in San Jose, CA until 1976 when they moved back to MN.

Nobelle was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. She loved to collect antiques and Beanie Babies; she also made St. Nicholas dolls that she would show at the county fair.

She lived in TRF until 2004 when she had her stroke, then moved to Duluth MN where she spent her final years.

Survivors include son, Marcel P. Garr of Tucson AZ and his son, Marcel C.; daughter, Jennifer (Willi) Werner of Duluth MN and their children, Mitchell, Ashley, Kara & Austen; brother, Jerry (Marlis) Furuseth of Howard Lake, MN; sisters, Evelyn Walsh of Seattle, WA, Myrtle Stromberg of Thief River Falls, MN and Ethel (Jim) Walker of Bemidji, MN; sister-in-law, Millie Furuseth, Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Peder & Johanna; husband, Marcel H. and Brothers Paul, Norman & Leonard; sister, Pearl Helgenset; and an infant sister.
