Nona Mackenroth, 84, died on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, June 27, 2005 at the Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Ole Martin Wasstrand officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and one hour prior to services on Monday at the Funeral Home.

Nona E. Nelson was born on May 18, 1921 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Robert (Bob) and Anna (Wasstrand) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. She grew up and attended Knox Elementary School, Central Junior High and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939, all in Thief River Falls.

Nona was united in marriage to George O. Mackenroth. She was employed at NuWay Caf, Ben Franklin, Bostwicks, Arctic Cat and Penneys.

Nona enjoyed crafts, fishing, reading, bird watching, going to the casino and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nona held membership with the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary.

Nona is survived by her children, Mary (Bob) Bandur, Williams, AZ, Keith, New Hope, MN, Karen Grim, Clovis, NM, and Vicky (Steve) Breiland, Thief River Falls, MN; cousin, Ole Martin (Bodil) Wasstrand of Minneapolis, MN. grandchildren: Kelly (Solberg) Mohn, Lisa (Mackenroth) Robson, Lori (Mackenroth) Holm, Stephanie (Breiland) Bowman, Jeremy Breiland, Jason Breiland, Tamra (Grim) Soares, Debra (Grim) Emerick and John Grim; and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; brothers, Miloy, Donald and Gerald (Gerry) and son-in-law, John Grim.
