Obituary

Norman Wallace Johnson was born December 21, 1918 at Benwood, MN son of the late John O. and Elsa E. (Puttbrese) Johnson. He was baptized in the Lutheran Faith and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Badger. He attended school in Willmar, MN, Benwood, MN, and graduated from Badger High School in 1936. He entered the US Army and served during WWII from February, 1942 to November, 1945. Following his discharge, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane McFarlane on June 9, 1946 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Badger, MN. The couple farmed near Badger until 1963 when they moved to Thief River Falls, MN. Norman worked at Forsberg Inc. until his retirement in 1981.

Norman enjoyed reloading and working on rifles. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing the accordion.

He was a member of the Abundant Life Church, the Thief River Falls American Legion Post, VFW, and the TRF Rifle Club.

He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Johnson of Thief River Falls, two children John W. (Diane Offerdahl) Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN and Joyce (Leonard) Wallace of Easton, PA; four granddaughters: Melissa Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN; Miranda (Guy) Gustafson of Grand Forks, ND; Kelly Wallace of Easton, PA; and Hannah Wallace of Easton, PA; 2 great-grandsons Tyler Efteland and Adam Gustafson; two brothers Harley (Verna) Johnson of New London, MN; and Harlan Johnson of Willmar, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Daisy Stauffenecker and Infant Joyce Johnson.

Norman died on December 20, 2003. May his memory be blessed.
