Norman Midthun, 77, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at Northwest Medial Center, CNC Unit, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 22, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Dennis Raymond officiating. Burial will be in Big Grove Cemetery, Brooten, MN with Reverend Mike DeKraai officiating on Saturday, November 23, 2002 at 2:00 P.M.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 21, 2002 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Thursday evening and at the church for one hour prior to services on Friday.
Norman Myron Midthun was born on January 27, 1925 in Crosby, MN, the son of Lars and Irene (Wilhelmson) Midthun. He grew up at Staples, MN and attended school in Staples. Norman entered the United States Army during World War II and served in the Philippines and Occupation of Japan.
On June 10, 1951 Norman was united in marriage to Adeline Thompson in Brooten, MN.
He graduated from Concordia College with a degree in Social Work. He also attended the University of Nebraska graduating with a Masters Degree in Social Work.
Norman was employed as Director of the Lake Park Wild Rice Childrens Home, the Fergus Falls State Hospital, Lutheran Social Services of Fargo, ND, Pennington County Human Services in Thief River Falls and worked part time with Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota.
Norman was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Norman is survived by his wife, Adeline of Thief River Falls, MN; one daughter, Brenda Jacy (Leonard) Olson of Viking, MN; one son, David Midthun of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Tina (Erick) Olson of Thief River Falls, MN; one sister, Lorraine (Connie) Marden of Mankato, MN; and nieces and nephews also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lars; his mother, Irene; and one brother, Gordon.
