Norris I. Trontvet was born January 13, 1911, at his parents home in Star Township, Pennington County, MN, the son of Olaf and Gunda (Rensla) Trontvet. He attended Cloverleaf Country School and Goodridge High School.
Norris and his brother, Gilbert, farmed the home place in Erie, MN from 1938-1946. Then in 1946, he purchased land northeast of Thief River Falls, where he continued farming, doing the work he loved, until his retirement in 1972.
On November 9, 1941, Norris was united in marriage to Dorothy Emma Eidelbes in a double wedding ceremony with Norris sister Janet and Orville Kveno.
He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and was actively involved in the ministry of the church. For Norris, the most important decision he made was when he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ in 1948. His hearts desire was for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to accept Christ as their personal Savior and to live for Jesus.
