Odessa Anderson, 91, died Saturday, May 3, 2002 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend Luther Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 " 8 PM, Monday, May 5, 2003 at the Johnson Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, MN, with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday.

Odessa May Buckels was born September 8, 1911, at Liberty Township, Hamilton County, IA, the daughter of Alvat and Bertha (Malina) Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Federated Church. When she was 5 years old, the family moved to Lakota, IA, where Odessa attended school. In 1929, she graduated from Lakota High School with honors. For a few years she did domestic work and worked on the family farm.

On October 10, 1932, Odessa was united in marriage to Albert Andy G. Anderson in Algona, IA. The couple lived in Lakota and Forest City area and then moved to Los Angeles, CA, where they lived for 5 years. In 1939, they moved to Thief River Falls, MN and lived in Sanders Township. Odessa clerked for her husbands sales and raised her family.

Odessa was a member of Oak Ridge Lutheran Church.

Survivors include daughter, Patricia (James) Lower, Wheatfield, IN; grandsons, Rory (Helen) Anderson, Thief River Falls, MN, Kevin Anderson, Bismarck, ND, Larry (Sarah) Anderson Jr., Metairie, LA, Joel (Karen) Ranum, Thief River Falls, MN and Brian (Sheila) Ranum, Spring Lake Park, MN; granddaughters, Kyle Jeanine (Joe) Garavalia, Kouts, IN, Kerry Anderson, Metairie, IN, Jodi (Tom) Bendickson, Thief River Falls, MN and Patty Ireland, Colorado Springs, CO; great grandchildren; Keith, Kyle and Robby Anderson, Kelly and Aaron Bendickson, Sean, Dana and Micah Ranum, Baily and Jorde Ranum, Nash, Kallie and Rachel Anderson, Alex and Ian Garavalia and Amanda, Rachel and Jeffrey Anderson and Jessica Cheeks; daughters-in-law, Bev Ranum, Thief River Falls, MN and Janice Anderson, Metairie, LA.

Preceded in death by husband, Andy in 1986, sons, James in 1963 and Larry in 1970, granddaughter, Kimberlee Cheeks, sister, Esther Zimmerman and brother, Clifton.
