Olga Lindblom, 92, died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Riverview Hospital, Crookston, MN
Funeral service will be 2 PM, Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Telmarken Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, MN, with Rev. Greg Schram, Pastor Raynard Huglen, and Rev. Arlen Hermodson officiating. Burial will be Telemarken Cemetery, rural Goodridge.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM, Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to the service at the church, Thursday.
Olga Amanda Waale was born April 29, 1916 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Halvor and Anne (Haugen) Waale. She was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church and confirmed at Telemarken Lutheran Church. She attended country school in Kratka Township and graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls. Olga attended college at Bemidji, MN for 2 years and then taught at a rural school at Clearbrook, MN, south of Solway, MN, north of Bemidji and near Thief River Falls for 8 years. She moved to Rockford, IL with her sisters, Hilda and Selma where she worked in a Defense plant.
On June 8, 1947, Olga was united in marriage to Carl Mildren Lindblom at the farm near Goodridge, MN. They lived for a short time in Thief River Falls and made their home on the Waale farm in March of 1948. The couple ran a dairy and small grain farm and raised their 4 children: Duane, Curtis, Kenneth and Marjorie.
Olga was a lifelong member of Telemarken Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active in Ladies Aid. She is currently a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. She served as a 4-H leader for many years and was an active member of the Homemakers Club. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidery, gardening, baking and won Grand Champion for her bread at the County Fair. Olga was a strong, steady, faithful woman and was devoted to her family and community. Olga especially loved seeing her grandchildren and her new great grandchild.
She is survived by husband, Carl Lindblom, Goodridge, MN and currently living in Crookston, MN; 4 children: Duane Lindblom, Goodridge, MN, Curt (Jae-Dee) Lindblom, Oakdale, MN, Ken (Jaymee) Lindblom, Homer Glen, IL and Marjorie Marge Lindblom, Savage, MN; 5 grandchildren: Adam (Megan) Lindblom, Alicia (Jon) Sweetser, Amber Lindblom, Kyle Lindblom and Michelle Lindblom; 1 great grandchild: Sophia Sweetser; a foster son, Ron (Aliene) Mills, Ocala, FL and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Olga was preceded in death by parents; brothers: Tom Waale and Henry Waale; sisters: Hilda Waale and Selma Johnson, along with 5 brothers and sisters in their childhood and infancy.
