Olga J. Melby, 98, of McIntosh, MN formerly of Oklee, MN died on Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at McIntosh Manor Nursing Home in McIntosh, MN. Arrangements with Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at 10:30 AM in Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN with Reverend Robert Paulson Officiating. Burial will be held in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Oklee, MN.

Visitation will be held on Friday 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Olga Juliet Melby was born January 19, 1903 in Wilton, MN daughter of the late Thomas and Inga (Dahl) Melby. She moved to Oklee, MN in 1910 when her father and uncle Ole started the Melby Brothers Mercantile. She graduated from Oklee High School and went on to get her teaching certificate from Bemidji State College. She then taught school in McIntosh and Cass Lake, MN. She moved to Blue Island, IL and taught elementary grades there until her retirement in 1964. Following her retirement she returned to Oklee and taught part time for a few years.
Olga was a life time member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading and fancywork. She was an avid Twins Baseball fan.
She is survived by 13 nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Vi Melby Bergh of Oklee, MN and Bernice Bunny Melby of Grass Valley, CA: many great-nieces and nephews.
Olga is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Inga Melby. Brothers Andor and his wife Cora Melby, Orrin Melby and Wilton Stubs Melby.
