Aloise Opal Smith, 82, died on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN
Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 22, 2006 2:00 PM, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend Merrill Kindall, officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Aloise Opal Ross was born October 5, 1923, the daughter of Sam and Hilda (Odberg) Ross in Minneapolis, MN. Opal grew to adulthood in Middle River where she attended school, graduating from Middle River High School in 1942.
On March 24, 1946, Opal was united in marriage to Walter Smith in Thief River Falls, MN, where the couple made their home for a short period of time. They then moved to Middle River, MN, where they lived for 18 years and then in 1965, the family moved back to Thief River Falls. Walter died in 1986 and Opal continued to reside in Thief River Falls until the time of her death. Opal was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother.
Opal is survived by children, Marsha (Robert) Bren, Shoreview, MN, Dean (LaVonne) Smith, Bismarck, ND, Faye Emmons, Thief River Falls, MN and Jerry (Lorrie) Smith, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Robert, Michelle, Richard, Nicki, Jeff, Greg and Tate; a sister, Arbutus (Lionel) Johnson, Karlstad, MN.
She is preceded in death by husband, Walter and parents.
