Orlin H. (Ole) Magner, son of Glen and Agnes (Skadsem) Magner, was born on August 6, 1930, in New Maine Township, Marshall County, Minnesota. He was baptized May 28, 1934, and later confirmed his faith at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN. Presently he was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Newfolden. After both attending school and growing to manhood in the Newfolden area, he enlisted in the United States Army in March, 1952.

On June 7, 1952, Ole was united in marriage to Joyce Sorum in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The couple lived briefly in Cedar Rapids, Iowa following Olea honorable discharge from service in 1954. They then moved to Holt, where Ole worked at Holt Co-Op Creamery while also proudly serving on the Holt School Board.

In 1957 the couple moved their family to Newfolden, where Ole began his 27 year labor of love with the Marshall County Central School District. A comic in custodians clothes, he employed his winsome humor to forge lasting relationships with administration, staff and students. He was also deeply devoted to his bus driving duties.

Ole was a member of the American Legion Post #427, where he served as commander and with friend, Harvey Stokke, marshaled American Legion Baseball in Newfolden. His charitable compass further led him to service with Agassiz Rod and Gun Club, the Eagles Club, the Newfolden Lions Club and Newfolden Senior Citizen Club and volunteered for the Home Delivered Meals Program. He also served as a charter member of the Newfolden Development Corporation.

Ever the outdoorsman, Oles fondness of hunting and fishing was superseded only by a love for taking leisurely pickup rides to his farm in New Maine Township. He cherished the beauty of Gods creation, marveling at either the sun rising over the Arizona Mountains or descending into his beloved northwestern Minnesota skyline.

A husband and father of uncommon commitment, Ole made daily trips to visit his four children. Rarely would he leave these visits alone, often finding himself accompanied by one or more of his many grandchildren, all of whom he both loved and bragged about liberally.

Oles love for his grandchildren was particularly apparent when it pertained to their involvement in Marshall County Central athletic events and Newfolden Summer Rec. baseball and softball games. But, even if they were not involved, his fanaticism for the Nordics of MCC was well known to be profuse, particularly among the visiting referees and umpires whod occasionally incur his wrath.

Ole is survived by his wife, Joyce of 55 years, Newfolden, MN; one daughter, Cindy (Gary) Borg, three sons, Danny (Shirley), Scott (Tammie), and Brent (Kelly), all of Newfolden, MN; 13 grandchildren Shane (Andrea) Borg, Brandon Borg, Garrett (Ashley) Magner, Justin (Alicia) Magner, Trever Magner and Treston (Amanda) Magner, Shanon (Corey) Spilde, Jackie (Paul) Gonsorowski, Megan Magner, Molly Magner, Shantel Magner, Sasha Magner and Madison Magner, eight great grandchildren: Taylor Borg, Caden and Reagan Spilde, Grady Magner, Gannon Gonsorowski, Libby and Sophia Borg, Kayelyn Magner
: one sister, Opal (Gary) Tanner of Middle River, MN; brothers: Gaylord and Gene of Newfolden, MN and Donald (Bonita) of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cecil and sister, Beatrice Israelson.
