Obituary

Orren Joseph Cassavant, 67, of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, passed away on August 17, 2026.

Orren was born on August 24, 1958, to Harry Cassavant and Angeline (Lefebvre) Cassavant. He was baptized at St. Dorothy Catholic Church in Dorothy, Minnesota, and attended St. Hilaire Elementary School and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.

Throughout his life, Orren was known for his strong work ethic and friendly nature. He worked for local farmers and later was employed at the lumber yard and Woodmaster in Red Lake Falls. He enjoyed staying busy and valued the friendships he made through his work and community.

Orren had a passion for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved hosting gatherings, taking road trips with friends, riding motorcycles, cross-country skiing, and listening to music. Most of all, he treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. His warm personality, sense of humor, and enjoyment of life left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his siblings, Shirley Hanson, Dee Poole, Alan (Sue) Cassavant, Judy (Wayne) Violette, and Kim (Jon) Volker; sister-in-law, Maxine Cassavant; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his special niece and caretaker, April Houghtaling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry (Bernice) Cassavant and Angeline (Willard) Boutain; his brother, Ronnie Cassavant; and brothers-in-law, Joe Hanson and Doug Poole.

Orren will be remembered for his love of family, his generous spirit, and the many memories he created with those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A gathering time for friends and family will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Huot Park, Rural Red Lake Falls, MN with Kevin Reich leading. Please feel free to bring a lawn chair and umbrella.
