Orrie Schmidt, 73, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Wednesday, August 25, 1999 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 28, 1999 at 10:30 AM in Bethany Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Graff Officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery of Red Lake Falls.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 " 8 PM with a 7:30 prayer service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Orrie Gena Strande was born October 25, 1925 in Gully, MN daughter of Ole and Gena (Rustad) Strande. She attended school in Oklee graduating from Oklee High School. She moved to Thief River Falls and worked at a department store. On December 8, 1947 she was united in marriage to Charles Schmidt in Thief River Falls. The couple lived in Fargo until 1954 when they moved to Red Lake Falls where they have since resided. Orrie worked for Tischarts and later Hanson's Department store.
Orrie was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and the Beacons, was active in the One fund since it started and also a member of the Legion Auxiliary in Red Lake Falls. She was a den mother for a few years, enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining people.
She is survived by her husband Charles of Red Lake Falls, MN; son Mike Schmidt of Red Lake Falls, MN and daughter Susie Schmidt of Minneapolis, MN: 2 grandchildren Shanna and Michelle. One sister Ione Bergquist (Kenny) of Minneapolis, MN.
Orrie is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Gladys Ballingrud.
