Orrin Linder, 83 of Plummer, MN passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Northstar Manor in Warren, MN with his loving family by his side.
Funeral Service to celebrate Orrin’s life will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN with S.A.M. Lindi Christianson officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Oklee, MN.
Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN on Thursday July 23, 2026 , starting at 4:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Orrin Glenn Linder was born on June 12, 1943, son of Oscar and Inga (Johnson) Linder in Thief River Falls, MN. He was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plummer, MN. He graduated from Pershing High School, Plummer, MN in 1961. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education at Bemidji State College (Bemidji State University), Bemidji, MN.
On December 26, 1965, he married Phyllis Drotts at the Evangelical Covenant Church, Thief River Falls, MN. To this union 4 children were born, Ted, Marcia, Jennifer, and Ann. He taught high school social studies and coached basketball for 6 years in Little Fork, MN until moving back to the family farm in 1972. He was a man of many hats, including substitute teacher, substitute mail carrier, and drove beet truck for Hedlund Farms for 25 years.
Orrin liked anything to do with tractors including attending shows, pulls, collecting toy tractors and reading books and magazines about them. He loved caring for and raising his cattle and visiting the sales barn. His hired help has always been neighbor kids including his granddaughter, Sophie. He had a great deal of patience and loved to teach life lessons and what hard work was all about. Orrin enjoyed attending and watching all kinds of sports. His favorite athletes were his grandkids. He was very proud of all his grandkids.
He was a Red Lake County Commissioner for 8 years, a longtime member of Minnesota Farmers Union, and a member of Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN holding many offices.
He is survived by his; children, Ted (Jenny) Linder, Plummer, MN, Marcia (Scott) Peterson, Jennifer (Mark) Davis, and Ann (Ryan) Ulrich, all of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Sophia Linder (special friend Ryan Pederson), Alyssa (Marc) Walter, Hailey (Sydney) Robertson, Luke Peterson (special friend Jules Ibanez), Josephine, Jacob, and Lincoln Davis, Magdalyn and August Ulrich; great grandchildren, Isla and Levi Walter; sister, Jane Kolstoe; sister-in-law Jean Drotts; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Phyllis Linder; parents, Oscar & Inga Linder; in-laws, David & Florence Drotts; brothers-in-law, John Kolstoe, Conrad Woetzel, Lowell Drotts and Wallace Drotts; sisters-in-law, Carol Woetzel, Evonne Stenberg and Marilyn Drotts.
