Orville Larson, 82, Holt, MN, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday April 30, 2009 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN. with Pastor John Golv offciating.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Holt Cemetery

Orville Larson was born on March 21, 1927 in Marshall County to Ludovic and Gunda (Moe) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. Orville attended country school near Holt, MN and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1945. He enlisted in the Air Force and served his country honorably from 1951-1955. On May 7, 1955 Orville was united in marriage to Yvonne Carol Haagenson. Orville was a rural mail carrier and grain farmer for many years. He retired from the Postal Service in1989. Orville enjoyed reading, spending time with his grandkids, and drinking coffee with the boys at the Nu Moon Caf in Newfolden. He was a big fan of the Twins and the Vikings despite the year they were having. He was known as Grandpa by many foster kids that he and Yvonne cared for over the years. Orville was active in the Holt Town Board, the Holt School Board, the Rural Letter Carriers Association, and he was a member of the American Legion. He was also an active member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church serving on the council and teaching Sunday School. Orville will be fondly remembered for his quick-draw wit, as well as his kindness and generosity.

Orville is survived by his wife Yvonne Larson; children, Craig (Mary Jo) Larson of Dilworth, MN, Jerald (Darcy) Larson of Waverly, MN, Tonia Larson of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Kari (Fianc Jason) Larson of Nisswa, MN, Lisa (J.T.) Smith of Eagen, MN, Carl (Nichole) Larson of Crookston, MN, Amanda (fianc Nate) Vraa of Ellsworth, WI, Joshua (fianc Tiffany) Vraa of St. Cloud, MN, Jennifer (Mark) Anderson of Chanhassen, MN, Scott Larson of Waverly, MN, Nick (Carrie) Booth of Twin Valley, MN, Jon Booth of Charleston, West Virginia; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Harley, Emily, Morgyn, Teddy, Dirk, and Leanna; sisters, Evelyn Owen of Westerville, OH, Dorothy Cornelius of Spencer, North Carolina; sisters-in-law Betty Larson of Carrington, ND, Lois Larson of Thief River Falls, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, sister Beatrice Boyum and her husband Ken; brothers, Lowell and Donald; and brothers-in-law William Owen and Reverend Conrad Cornelius.
