Orville Schey, 82, died on Sunday, July 21, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Faith Lutheran Brethren Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend George Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Karlstad Cemetery in Karlstad, MN.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Orville Lynn Schey was born on March 29, 1920 near Argyle, MN in Alma Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of Henry and Emma (Bengston) Schey. He attended Schey Country School near Argyle and Strandquist High School in Strandquist. On December 22, 1944 he entered the United States Navy. While in the Navy Orville received the American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was Honorably Discharged on June 15, 1946.
On March 26, 1977 Orville was united in marriage to Leonilla Anderson-Nelson in St. Paul, MN. He farmed on the Schey Family Farm, worked as a machinist at the Allis Chalmers Company in West Allis, WI, Minneapolis Moline Company in Minneapolis; Union Brass Faucet Company in St. Paul until his retirement in 1984 and was self employed as a Handy Man until a year ago.
Orville enjoyed working around the house, working in the yard and traveling.
He was a life member of the V. F. W. Everett-McClay Post 1296 in Minneapolis.
Orville is survived by his wife, Leonilla of Thief River Falls, MN; seven sisters; Hazel Anderson of Tioga, ND, Ethel McWhirter of Bloomington, MN, Harriet Olson of Richfield, MN, Verna (Dewey) Rood of Thief River Falls, MN, Deloris Linder of Strathcona, MN, Doris (Albert) Olson of Langdon, ND and Beverly (Gordon) Borsvold of Strandquist, MN; one uncle, Gilbert Olson of Newfolden, MN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers-in-law; and two nephews.
