Oscar "Eugene" Borgie passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the age of 95.

A Graveside Service, with military honors, will take place at St. Hilaire Community Cemetery in St. Hilaire, MN on September 4th at 11:00 AM.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Eunice Borgie; his wife, Gertrude (nee Laffler) Hawkins-Borgie and siblings, Bernerd (Joanne) Borgie, LaVerne (Al) Gundlefinger, Elaine (Wally) Newquist.

Loving father to Debra (Tom Brudnicki) Borgie, Roberta (Steven) Marek, Tamra (late Jerry) Johanneck and their mother and Oscar's first wife, Shirley Borgie. Grandfather to Kaytie (Matt), Chad (Katie), Jaimie (Justin), Lindsay (Austin) and great-grandfather to Ella, Oliver, Johanna and Juliette. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gene was known for his outstanding work ethic, being a good friend, someone who always was willing to help anyone, but most of all, for the love he had for his family. After growing up on a farm in northern Minnesota, Gene enlisted and served in the Navy. His journey continued and brought him to South Milwaukee Wisconsin, after being recruited to work at Bucyrus Erie. He spent the next 37 years in the machine shop where he was respected for his attention to detail.

Gene was an avid tournament bowler and even scored a few perfect games. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed his home up north after his retirement. Gene loved entertaining friends and family at that home which created many great memories for all. He traveled for a few years to Arizona in the winter months to enjoy the sunshine and meet up with friends who also made that trip. He lived a long life filled with so many stories. We would like to thank Preceptor Hospice for their thoughtful care and kindness in his last days.
