Palmer Bevolden, 87, of Red Lake Falls, MN died Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Riverview Healthcare in Crookston, MN.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Anthony Fernando presiding. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston, MN.
Visitation will be held 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 26, 2007 with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
Austin Palmer Bevolden was born December 10, 1920 at Harlem, Montana the son of Austin and Clara (Voje) Bevolden. He was baptized and confirmed in Hogeland Lutheran Church in Hogeland, MT.
In 1948 he moved to Spring Creek Township, Gary, Minnesota to farm with his brother, Clifford. In 1968 he married Myrtle Hopkins in Fertile, Minnesota. They moved to Thief River Falls where Palmer continued to farm small grains and also ran a dairy farm. Myrtle passed away in 1976.
In 1985 he married Leona Schmitz a mother of 9 children and numerous grandchildren. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls and together they enjoyed going dancing, traveling, and truly enjoyed the family life. He also enjoyed playing cards and woodworking. Palmer made many usable toys, games and furniture for his friends and family and also did some carpentry work. In 1987 Palmer retired from farming. He entered Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls in August of 2007.
Survivors include his wife, Leona of Red Lake Falls; Myrtle's children, Sherry Wallace and Carol Herdtz both of Arizona; Leona's children, Delbert (Eunice) Schmitz, Daniel (Mary Lou) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, MN, Theodore (Cheri) Schmitz of Minneota, MN, Thomas (Carol) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, MN, Pauline (Clarence) Kuznia of Bloomington, MN, Ruth Ann (Richard) de Niord of Wauban, MN, and Dolores (Mark) Fraire of Shelton, WA; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Clifford (Eileen) Bevolden of Fertile, MN, Leroy (Aileen) Bevolden of Cowallis, MT, and Lyle Bevolden of Havre, MT; 2 sisters, Hazel (Bob) Cichosz of Great Falls, MT, and Mildred (Ron) Swenson of Chinook, MT.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence, Martin and Chester; sister, Myrtle Woepple; and three step-daughters, Bonita Kazmierczak, Veronica Kazprowicz, and a baby girl; and two step-sons, Larry and Ronald Hosieth.
