Patricia Markstrom, 90, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial and a celebration of the life of Patricia will be held at 1:30 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service on Friday, April 24, 2015 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Farther Rick Lambert presiding. Patricia Ella Ganyo was born on November 24, 1924 in Graceton, MN, to George Frances and Eleda Anna (Carlson) Ganyo. She was baptized as an adult into the Catholic Faith in Warroad, MN. She attended school in Graceton and William, MN. While growing up, Patricia worked at Lundhom Drug Store in Roseau and the Mercantile in Warroad. On October 26, 1942, Patricia was united in marriage to the love of her life Gordon Markstrom in Roseau, MN who preceded her in death on June 3, 2013. In November of 1942, they set out on Gordon's tour of duty with the Army traveling the United States and living in many cities. After Gordon's tour they returned to Roseau. In 1960, they moved to Thief River Falls, MN where they lived in their family home throughout most of their 71 years of marriage. After moving Patricia found employment at Oakland Park Nursing Home for 3 years and then as a dental assistant for Dr.Achenbach, retiring in the early 90s after 25 years of dedication. Patricia was active in many organizations including the Legion Auxiliary Club, Friendship Club and Hospital Auxiliary Club. She loved volunteering at the hospital and serving on the Hospital Board. Pat was a member of St. Bernard's Church. She had a love for crafting and painting and an eye for decorating - always working on a "new project". Left to cherish her memories and remember her stories are her children: Kim (John) Desotell, Bird Island, MN, Honey Hare, Grand Rapids, MN and Gordie (Becky) Markstrom, Eagan, MN; Grandchildren, Shaejhon Desotell (Blair McKibbon), Bryonne (Pete) Stacklie, Tony Markstrom, Alyssa Markstrom and Great-grandson Kanton Stacklie. Patricia was welcomed by her husband Gordon, parents, sisters, Frances (John) Taimi and Edna (Clark) Gorham; brothers, Robert (Violet) Ganyo and Vern (Onna) Ganyo. Patricia was a kind and loving soul. Her friends and family were her passion and delight. The family is forever grateful for how you have touched Pat's life, each in your own special way.
