Patricia "Patty" Tunberg, 59, of Rapid City , SD formerly of Thief River Falls , MN died on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Jaime in Rapid City , SD.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls , MN with Rev. John Voelker, PhD officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls , MN .

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 6:00 PM prayer service on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls , MN . Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Saturday at the church.

Patricia Lynne Tunberg was born on May 26, 1952 in Thief River Falls , MN the daughter of Wallace and Bonnie (Jernberg) Tunberg. She attended Washington Elementary School , Franklin Middle School and graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1970. Patty then earned her Elementary Education Degree from Bemidji State University . Patty started teaching at Veblen , SD and then taught at Waubun , MN .

In 1977 Patty was united in marriage to Don Rockstad in Thief River Falls and to this union one daughter, Jaime was born. In 1983 Patty moved to Moorhead , MN and taught at Moorhead Elementary School for the next 25 years. Patty married Ron Olson. Patty moved to Thief River Falls for two years and has spent the last year in Rapid City , SD.

Patty dearly loved her family; and was most proud of her grandson, Tanner. In her younger years, she enjoyed cheerleading, sports, snowmobiling and her friends.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead , MN .

Survivors include her daughter, Jaime (Matt) Wood; grandson, Tanner Wood all of Rapid City, SD; mother, Bonnie Tunberg of Thief River Falls; brothers, Dr. Tom (special friend, Mayme) Tunberg of Blaine, MN and Jeff (Jill) Tunberg of Thief River Falls; uncle & aunt, Roger (Ardy) Tunberg of Thief River Falls; uncle, Jim (special friend, Bonnie) Jernberg of Aberdeen, SD; nieces & nephew, Andrea (Nate) Ursel and their children, Bailey & Jacob of Shakopee, MN and Fabian & Juliet Tunberg of Thief River Falls, MN; and many dear friends.

Patty is preceded in death by her father, Wallace; and her grandparents, Frank and Marie Tunberg and Conrad and Alice Jernberg.
