Obituary

Patrick Fischer, 63, died on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, March 11, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker, PhD, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.

Patrick Gordan Fischer was born on April 2, 1947 to Verna Marie (Lockwood) and Walter A. Fischer in Brainerd, MN. He was raised in the Deer River, Motley, and Pillager area until moving to Thief River Falls at the age of 6. He was baptized and confirmed. He attended school in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965. He then graduated from Thief River Falls Junior College in 1967. He attended Bemidji State College.

Patrick began dating his future wife Kay Lorrayne Liden when he was 14 years old. They were united in marriage on December 20, 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. They have made their home in Thief River Falls. After graduating high school, Pat worked for 26 years at LB Hartz in the warehouse and was foreman of the produce department for sometime. He then got his captains license for charter boats and ran the Old Guide Charter Service on Lake of the Woods. He later started the Old Guide Tackle Company which he was still making until his death.

Patrick had a love for the water and fishing. He was an avid hunter and liked going on adventures with his friends to Montana and South Dakota. He was a member of the Thief River Trap Club and served as its secretary for over 40 years, the Greenbush Trap Club, the NRA, Minnesota Deer Hunters, and Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife Kay, Thief River Falls, MN, daughter Rebecca (Ernie) Nelson, Thief River Falls, MN, 3 grandchildren: Jordyn Kay, Justin Patrick, Jase Ernest, brother & sister in law Brian & Deb Liden, nieces Jessica Liden and Stephanie Liden, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
