Patsy Honstine, 79, died on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 24, 2010 will be held at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker officiating. Burial with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2793 and the Ecklund-Holmstrom American Legion Post #117 will be 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be from 9-11 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Patsy Ann Long was born on December 28, 1930 to Earl and Lenore (Smith) Long in St. Louis, MO. When Patsy was a year old, her family settled on the north edge of Thief River Falls, and the Longs Bridge was named after the family. She attended elementary school at Northrup and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in 1948. Following graduation, Patsys entire family moved to Los Angeles, California. Patsy was a WAVE with the US Navy from 1950 to 1953.
Patsy was married to Louis Hilton and to this union 1 son was born. She was later married to William Ballard. During these years, Patsy worked as a reproduction typist in San Diego. She held a masters degree in clinical psychology.
On October 5, 1979, Patsy was united in marriage to David Red Honstine in San Diego. Later that month they moved to Thief River Falls, where they have lived all of their married life. For a few years, they owned and operated Hansons sewing and Tishards Fabric Store in Thief River Falls.
Patsy enjoyed ceramics for many years. Reading was a favorite pastime. She also enjoyed doing counted cross stitch.
She is survived by her husband David Red Honstine, Thief River Falls, MN, 2 children: Cynthia Skinner, Thief River Falls, MN, David Ballard, Rocky Mountain, NC, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Paul Ballard, 2 brothers: Harry and Andrew Long.
