Pearl Amelia Jarshaw was born on March 1, 1913 on the home farm in New Solum Township, Marshall County, MN, the oldest of nine children, to Alfred and Tillie (Langlee) Jarshaw. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Busy Bee Country School. Pearl stayed at home and worked on the Family Farm. When Pearl was 21 she was interested in going out working to make some money. One day a Foster peddler came to their house who knew of some people by the name of Boe, northwest of Viking, who needed a hired girl. There were two sons and an elderly mother that Pearl took care of.
Pearl was united in marriage to Nels Boe on April 10, 1935 in Crookston, MN. The couple made their home on the Family Farm in Marsh Grove Township in Marshall County, MN. Nels and Pearl had five children together. She farmed together with her husband and also worked at Arctic. Pearl was a very hard worker her entire life. Pearl moved to Valley Home in 1995 and in 2001 she moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home.
Pearl was in her 60s when she got her drivers license. She was a wonderful cook and made a great baked chicken. She loved flowers and gardening and picking berries. Pearl enjoyed helping other people do whatever they asked of her. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden and active in Ladies Aid and is presently a member of Alma Lutheran Church and an Honorary Member of WMF. She was also a member of Homemakers Club and a Birthday Club.
