Pearl Drees, 89, died on Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the CNC unit of the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Memorial Services will be held 2;00 PM on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Father Tim McGee officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Cemetery, St. Hilaire, MN.

Pearl Muriel Ortloff was born on August 22, 1915 to Paul and Ada (Olson) Ortloff in Bray Township, Pennington County, MN. She grew up and attended school in St. Hilaire, MN. She was united in marriage to Nickie Drees in January 12, 1931 at Dorothy, MN. The couple made their home in St. Hilaire all of their life. They operated the Redwood Inn, also known as Nickies in the later years, until their retirement in the early 1970s. After retirement Pearl did some cooking at the Senior Center in St. Hilaire. Pearl moved into CNC in 2004.

Pearl enjoyed ceramics, painting pumpkins, wood carving and cooking. She was awarded the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award of Pennington County in 1990. She was a member of the St. Bernards Catholic Church.

Pearl is survived by three children: Marlene Ortloff, St. Hilaire, MN; Harley (Barb) Drees, St. Hilaire, MN; Nickie (Deb) Drees, Thief River Falls, MN; 15 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Nickie in 1980.
