Peggy Swanson, 43, died on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 3, 2003 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Dennis Raymond officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday March 2, 2003 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Monday evening and at the church for one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Peggy Ann Forness was born on August 4, 1959 in Ely, MN, the daughter of Lois (Jones) and Donald Forness. She was baptized at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Babbitt, MN and attended Elementary School and High School in Babbitt. Following High School she attended Vermillion Community College in Ely, MN.
Peggy was united in marriage to Steven E. Swanson on July 23,1986. Steve and Peggy made their home in Embarrass, MN until 1990 when the couple moved to Drayton ND and Hazen, ND for six years. In 1996 they moved to Thief River Falls.
Peggy worked as the City Forester in Hazen, ND and took care of an elderly lady in Drayton. While living in Thief River Falls she has worked at Lincoln High School, as a cleaner and in the Welding Department at Arctic. Most recently, Peggy was working for the Evergreen, doing the catering of lunches at Arctic and Digi-Key.
She enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and gardening. Peggy loved spending time with her four grandchildren. She was a member of the V. F. W. Auxiliary in Babbitt.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Steve; two daughters: Robin (Aaron) Myers of Thief River Falls, MN and Toni Slining of Thief River Falls, MN; four grandchildren: Jesse Myers, Tara Myers, Jacob Myers and Brady Tofstad; her parents, Lois Evelyn Church of Pillager, Oregon and Donald Richard Forness of Seattle, WA; three brothers: Richard Forness of Ely, MN, Sam Forness of Marysville, WA and Jimmy Forness of Elko, NV; one sister, Evelyn Conor of Everett, WA; two half sisters: Sandra Mecham of Medford, OR and Pam Kachmarzinski of Rochester, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jenny Lynn Slining; her step-father, Al Church; and her grandparents.
