Percy Johnson was born May 6, 1916 at Thief River Falls, MN, to parents Peter H. and Magna (Halseth) Johnson of rural Oklee, MN. His early years were spent in Garnes and Equality Township of Red Lake County, where he attended school and grew to manhood.
In 1934, he began his fur farming career, which continued for 36 years. He attended the Hanson Mechanical Trade School in Fargo, ND in 1942, completing the Master Arc Welding course in January 1943.
Percy lived at Two Harbors, MN from 1946 until the spring of 1948, when he moved to a farm in Hill River Township of Polk County, MN, which he had purchased in the fall of 1947.
On June 9, 1951, Percy was united in marriage to Alvina Christianson of rural Fosston, MN, at the Vernes Church and they made their home on his farm.
After discontinuing the fur farm in the fall of 1970, they raised beef cattle and did small grain farming. Percy retired from farming in the fall of 1995, but continued to live on the farm where he enjoyed many hobbies, along with hunting, fishing and trapping, until entering the First Care Nursing Home, Fosston, MN, in March 2003.
Percy was baptized and instructed in the Lutheran Faith and attended Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Trail, MN.
