Dr. Peter Isaacson, 56, died on Saturday, June 12, 2004 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins, CO.
Funeral service will be Friday, June 18, 2004 " 1:00 PM at Johnson Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Robert Dahlen, officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be on Friday one hour prior to the service at the Johnson Green Funeral Home.
Peter Clarence Isaacson was born in Thief River Falls, MN, to Clarance and May (Rognlie) Isaacson on July 12th, 1947. He resided there until attending Concordia College in Moorhead, MN., where he earned a B.A. in Mathematics and Psychology. He was drafted into the military in 1971, and faithfully served his country for three years before receiving an honorable discharge. In 1972, he married Susan Faith Anderson. The couple celebrated their thirty-second wedding anniversary in May of this year. He continued his education at Colorado State University, where he achieved Masters Degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as a PhD in Computer Science.
His enthusiasm for learning made him an excellent teacher in both secondary and university settings. He taught Mathematics at high schools in Enderlin, ND. and Thornton, CO., was a professor of Computer Science at the University of Northern Colorado for twenty-one years, and he was also very active in the Rocky Mountain Small College Computer Conference. His students knew "Dr. I" as very dedicated and genuinely concerned for their well being, frequently going out of his way to enrich their education.
An avid biker, Peter could often be seen riding in the Rockies near his home in Fort Collins, CO. Some of the bike tours he participated in include Ride the Rockies and Tour of Colorado. He also had a passion for Country Western and Gospel music, and was such a regular at festivals, such as We-Fest and Folk Fest, that other enthusiasts would save space for him.
Peter was known for being soft-spoken, warm hearted, idealistic, and compassionate. As a husband, he was steadfast and loving; as a brother, loyal and sensitive; as a friend, fun-loving and dependable; and as an uncle, generous and patient.
He died on June 12, 2004, in Fort Collins, CO. He is survived by his wife, Susan, of Fort Collins; two sisters, Susan (Kadera) of Lake Villa, IL; Loralee, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.; nine nephews and nieces; several aunts; a number of cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. May his memory be blessed.
