Phillip Boen, 77, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock, MN.
Phillip James Boen was born March 16, 1927 in Lincoln Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of Edward and Grace (Sanderson) Boen. He grew up and attended Strandquist High School.
On June 20, 1953, Phillip was united in marriage to Yvonne Nancy Koland at First Lutheran Church, Karlstad, MN. Phillip grew up on the farm and continued to farm until he and Yvonne moved to Karlstad in 1996. While on the farm he raised sheep, pigs, beef cows, dairy cows and small grains. For many years he drove bus for Strandquist School. He also served as Justice of Peace for the city of Strandquist.
Phillip served on Bethesda Lutheran Church Council, Marshall County Soil and Water District, Strandquist School Board from 1975-1987 and Karlstad Memorial Hospital Board.
Survived by wife, Yvonne Nancy Boen, Strandquist, MN; 7 children, Yvette (David) Moberg, Port St. Lucie, FL, Krista (Mike) Proulx, Crookston, MN, Michele Boen, Brooklyn Park, MN, Paul (Jackie) Boen, Karlstad, MN, Brent (Carla) Boen, Strandquist, MN, Nancy (Mark) Larson, Otsego, MN and Corey (Candace) Boen, Bemidji, MN; 13 grandchildren, Mikhal and Devin Moberg, Brent, Mark, Matthew Proulx, Chelsea and Chase Boen, Christian Boen, Jordan, Jacob and Nicole Larson, Cameron and Drew Boen; 3 brothers and 3 sisters, Melford and Selma Boen, Buena Park, CA, Lila Belanger, St. Paul, MN, Joyce and Herb King, Arden Hills, MN, Evelyn and Harry Noel, Spirit Lake, IA, Chester and Angie Boen, Olivia, MN and Jerry and Patsy Boen, Karlstad, MN.
Preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Jeremy Moberg and Grace Larson, father, Edward and mother, Grace and brother, Spencer.
