Phyllis Guzek, 61, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Friday, May 3, 2002 at United Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at 2:00 PM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake Falls.
Visitation will be held on Monday 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service and a Rosary Service by the Catholic Daughters at Johnson Funeral Service and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Phyllis Jean Guzek was born June 10, 1940 at West Concord, MN daughter of the late Clarence and Isabelle (Jones) Bishop. She was raised and educated near Rochester, MN graduating from West Concord High School in 1958. She worked at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester until 1963. On June 8, 1963 she was united in marriage to Alton Joseph Guzek at St. Dorothy Catholic Church at Dorothy, MN. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls where she had in home day care and did some house cleaning. Alton passed away February 9, 1999.
Phyllis enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, flower gardening, feeding birds and baking. She attended home sporting events, but most of all she loved and enjoyed her family.
She was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the guild, was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters.
Phyllis is survived by her children Paul Guzek and special friend Kathy Flickinger of Brainerd, MN; Tom Guzek (Lisa) of Sauk Rapids, MN; Kevin Guzek of St. Cloud and Peggy Guzek of Thief River Falls, MN: grandchildren Christopher Crawford and Nicholas Guzek. Brothers and sisters Ralph Bishop of West Concord, MN; Ida Evert of Faribault, MN; Clayton (Mary Jane) Bishop of West Concord, MN and Robert Jake (Pat) Bishop of Owatonna, MN and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alton, parents, one brother Wilbur and one sister Mary Sorn and infant brother Wesley Karl Bishop.
