Phyllis Schmitz, 87, of Red Lake Falls, MN, was called home on Friday, July 11,2025 surrounded by her daughter at Mill City Senior Living in Faribault, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25,2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bob Schreiner presiding. The Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Her final resting place will be St. Joseph Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Phyllis Schmitz was born October 31, 1937 to the late Joseph and Dulice St. Marie of Red Lake Falls. Baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Church in Red Lake Falls. Graduated from Lafayette High School with the Class of 1956. Phyllis was united in marriage to Henry Schmitz on September 1,1956 in Red Lake Falls, MN. After their wedding, the couple moved to Milwaukee, WI where Henry was employed. After a brief period, they returned home to Red Lake Falls to reside. Phyllis was employed by Detroiter Mobile Home/Homark. Phyllis moved to Carefree Living in Burnsville, MN in November 2016. She loved her assisted living community, which became her home away from home. She moved to Mill City Senior Living in Faribault, MN in May 2025 to receive a higher level of care.

Phyllis enjoyed playing cards, baking, gardening, Bingo, watching sports (MN Vikings, MN Wild and the Twins), and spending time with friends and family. Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Phyllis is survived by her Children: Debbie (Mark) Borgwardt of Racine, WI, Nancy (Ronald) Baird of Red Lake Falls, MN, Dale Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, MN, Tanya (Chuck) Gjerstad of Faribault, MN, Daughter-in-Law Jenny (Rick) Welk of Fargo, ND. Grandchildren: Brandon and Ashley Borgwardt, Aaron Baird, Taylor and Brittany Gjerstad; Madison and Blane Schmitz. Great Grandchildren: Noah Borgwardt, Aubrey and Aydin Baird. Sisters: JoAnn Brunelle of Crookston, MN, Maryls Vaudrin of Crookston, MN, Carol Pederson of Red Lake Falls, MN, and Julie (Jerry) King of Hugo, MN.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her Spouse, Henry Schmitz: Son, Chad Schmitz: Parents, Brothers: Delbert St. Marie, Raymond St. Marie, and Infant Robert St. Marie: Sister-in-Laws, Barbara St. Marie and Odina Mae St. Marie: Brother-in-laws: Willard Brunelle, Clarence Vaudrin, and Kendall Pederson; and several nephews and other cherished family and friends.
