Phyllis Verbout of Thief River Falls, MN passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 1:30 PM in St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert Officiating. Burail will be held at a later date at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church.

Phyllis Louise Verbout was born July 17, 1947 at Audubon, Iowa daughter of Carl and Imogene (Christiansen) Olsen. She was raised and educated at Audubon, Iowa. The family made their home in Mentor, MN and worked at various jobs throughout Minnesota and North Dakota. She then moved to Thief River Falls in 1968 where she worked at Land O' Lakes turkey plant and met her lifelong partner.

On February 14, 1970 she was united in marriage to Lynn Verbout at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN. To this union 4 children were born Chris, Nancy, Karen and Mike. The couple made their home in Grygla, MN where she worked at the Steak Knife. In 1979 they moved to Thief River Falls where she raised her family and babysat for various family members. In 1989 the couple moved to Pembina, ND where they were employed at Motor Coach Industries. Her husband passed away in 2002 and Phyllis moved back to Thief River Falls where she has since resided.

She enjoyed playing Skip-bo and bingo with the ladies at Skylite. She also enjoyed puzzles, scrap booking, making tie blankets and gardening.  Most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her family. Phyllis was also the grandkid's number one fan at their sporting events.

Phyllis is survived by her children Chris (Beth) Olsen of Red Lake Falls, MN, Nancy (Aaron) Misson of Thief River Falls, MN, Karen (Dion) Larson of Strandquist, MN, Mike (Rozella) Verbout of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren Curtis, Luke, Tanner, Dylan, Briar, Courtny, Samantha, Katrina, Mariah, Michael, Taylon, Ashley, Shaun, Shantel, Josiah, Roxanne, Cory, Michaela and Adrien; great-grandchildren Jackson, Amy, Skylar, Tucker, Elsa, Ryder, Hunter, Kaisyn, Keanna, Keaton, Kayden, and Jason; siblings Carl Olsen, Raymond (Janie) Olsen, Phil Olsen along with several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lynn, her parents, brother Roger Olsen and nephew, Brandon Olsen.
