After a courageous battle with cancer, Phyllis Wilhelm, 74, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at her home in Thief River Falls, MN, with her loving children by her side. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Aaron Zuch officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Phyllis JoAnn Habedank was born on October 5, 1937 on the family farm in Silverton Township, Pennington County, Minnesota, the daughter of Charley William and Alice Agnes (Hruby) Habedank. She was baptized at home on May 15, 1938 and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Mavie, Minnesota. Phyllis attended Goodridge Public School and graduated Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in June, 1955. For 39 years, Phyllis worked as an accountant for Kays Benton Safranski and Co. LLP in Thief River Falls, MN. Upon her retirement in 2006, Phyllis began traveling, shopping, gardening, and spending more time with her family and friends. Phyllis was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Phyllis was a wonderful and loving mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children, Karen Wilhelm of Coon Rapids, MN, and Lee (Wannetta) Wilhelm of East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Jessica Wilhelm of Kensington, MN, and Nicole Wilhelm of Grand Forks, ND; great-grandson, Brody Pape; brothers and sisters, Goldie (Dennis) Jones of Flint, MI, Pearl Adamson of Thief River Falls, MN, Freda (Lawrence) Hemmesch of Thief River Falls, MN, Arvilla (Henry) Hastad of Thief River Falls, MN, and Gary Habedank of Sandstone, MN; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Preceding Phyllis in death are her parents; infant daughter, Margaret Ann Wilhelm; five siblings, Kenneth Habedank, Dorothy McLaughlin, Claudia Cole, Clifford Habedank, and Viola Anderson.
