Obituary

Ralph "Buck" Shepherd passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the Presbyterian Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Ralph Lavern Shepherd was born March 15, 1926 at Baker, MT son of Fay and Lorena (Carter) Shepherd. He was raised and attended school in Ollie, MT. He graduated from Ollie High School in 1944.

He entered the US Navy May 11, 1944 and served his country until his honorable discharge on June 6, 1946. Following his discharge he worked various jobs from mining, farming, and picking strawberries traveling all over the Western United States.

On December 3, 1948 he was united in marriage to Virginia Cameron. To this union five children were born Scott, Patty, Gale, Ross and Jan. The couple made their home in the Baker area for 50 years where he farmed and ranched. The couple moved to Red Lake Falls, MN in 1999 and since August 2016 resided at Hillcrest Senior Living.

He enjoyed word search, and handing out candy to anyone who stopped by to visit. He also enjoyed bird watching and was a great story teller. As a young man he was a catcher for the Ollie All Stars and enjoyed watching baseball his entire life.

Buck is survived by his, children Patty (Gary) Purath of Red Lake Falls, MN, Gale Shepherd of Billings, MT, Ross Shepherd of San Diego, CA, Jan (Todd) Glass of Red Lake Falls, MN; grandchildren Jodi (Kurt) Knott of Bemidji, MN, Darci (Tim) Moch of Edgeley, ND, Cody, Robbie, and Britta Glass of Red Lake Falls, MN,; great-grandchildren Briggs, Millie, Landon and Cameron Knott and Jillian and Sawyer Moch; brother Ronnie (Ramona) Shepherd of Baker, Mt, sisters-in-law Rosie Dahlman and Lolita Cameron both of Baker, MT along with several nieces and nephews

He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia, parents, son Scott Shepherd, granddaughter Robyn Purath, brother Dale and sisters Doris Berg and Fern Bays, brothers-in-law Terrence, Colin, and Alan Cameron, Vic Berg and Jerry Bays; sisters-in-law Sandy Shepherd and Jean Cameron.
