Randall Mortensen, born January 14, 1962, passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2026. A man of unwavering dedication and a kind spirit, Randy’s life was marked by his commitment to family, community, and craft.
A proud graduate of Delano High School in 1982, Randy’s career journey included skilled work in cabinet-making at the Wood Shed and professional roles at BMI, Xcel Energy Gas Division, Green Meadows Landscaping, among other positions. His craftsmanship and work ethic were consistently evident in all he undertook.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Randy was known for his generous heart and his readiness to lend a hand to those in need. His spirit of service extended to his vital role as a volunteer fireman with the Montrose Fire Department, where he dedicated 21 years to protecting and serving his community.
Randy found joy and solace in the outdoors, with passions that included hunting, fishing, and woodworking — pursuits that not only connected him to nature but also reflected his patient and meticulous qualities.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Carol Mortensen of Strandquist, MN; his siblings, Deb Zachman of Colorado and Allen (Sandra) Mortensen of Buffalo, MN; and his nephews and nieces: Adam (Colina) Zachman, Jeff Zachman, Justin Giese, Kayla Mortensen, and Brody Mortensen. He also cherished his role as great-uncle to Isadora Wong-Zachman. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends hold fond memories of Randy’s warmth and camaraderie.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Mortensen, along with many grandparents, aunts, and uncles, whose memories he carried closely.
Randall Mortensen’s legacy lives on through his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched. His good heart and steadfast character remain an enduring example of kindness, humility, and dedication to others. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
