Randy Les Brekke, 50, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Friday, June 2, 2000 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN. Arrangements with the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 6, 2000 at 2:00 PM in the Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston, MN with Pastor Hollis Graves and Pastor Nate Hinton officiating. Burial will be held in the Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery Northeast of Oklee, MN.
Visitation will be held on Monday 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at the Lafayette High School Gym in Red Lake Falls, MN and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Randy Les Brekke was born June 4, 1949 at Northwestern hospital in Thief River Falls, MN son of Arlie and Mavis (Burman) Brekke. Randy was baptized and confirmed in the Clearwater Lutheran Church. He was raised on a farm 10 miles northeast of Oklee, graduated from Oklee Public School in 1950. He was drafted in 1969 and served in the US Army. On June 14, 1969 he was united in marriage to Karen Fimrite at the Clearwater Lutheran Church. Randy received a degree in auto mechanics from Thief River Falls AVTI and also graduated from Northland Community College in Thief River Falls with an associate applied science degree in Law Enforcement. He was employed at Melby Lumber in Oklee, worked as a brakeman on the Soo Line Railroad in Thief River Falls, semi driver for Hutchinson Transfer in Thief River Falls and Paradis Inc of Brooks, MN. He owned his own mechanic business in Oklee and after returning to college he was employed for the Red Lake County Sheriffs Department. He was presently employed at Thiberts Chevrolet and Buick of Red Lake Falls.
Randy enjoyed spending time with his family, restoring old cars, mechanics, attending races, motorcycling, hunting, fishing and in the last three years he especially enjoyed spending time on his hobby farm with his son, Shannon.
He is survived by his wife Karen Brekke of Red Lake Falls, MN; three children Sheila (Jeff) Daley of Edina, MN, Shannon (DeAnn) Brekke of Oklee, MN and Shara (Tom) Paradis of Red Lake Falls, MN 3 grandsons Collin, Nathan and Devin; two step granddaughters Jasmine and LaChelle. His mother Mavis Brekke of Fosston, MN; one sister Renae (James) Vedbraaten of Thief River Falls, MN and two brothers Dale (Shelley) Brekke and Arlen (Debbie) Brekke both of Oklee, MN as well as three aunts, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Randy is preceded in death by his father Arlie; one brother Bobby and one nephew Jesse Brekke.
