Randy Wright, 67, of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

Randy was born on September 19, 1958, in Litchfield, Minnesota, to Valentine Edward and Janice Ardith (Nething) Wright. He was baptized at Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Randy spent part of his childhood in Montana, where he attended Central Heights Elementary School in Billings, before returning to Minnesota and graduating from Melrose High School in 1976.

Following high school, Randy proudly served in the Minnesota National Guard. He built a successful career in trucking and construction, working as a heavy equipment operator and later owning and operating Wright Construction. Randy took pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, determination, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.

Randy had a passion for the outdoors and found great joy in riding his motorcycle, hunting, gathering around bonfires, and spending time at Pine Lake with family and friends. Randy was truly a big kid at heart. He loved keeping his children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren busy (toys with motors), making memories, and ensuring everyone was having fun. One of his favorite pastimes was taking Ranger rides with his beloved dog, Bear. His infectious enthusiasm, sense of adventure, and genuine love for those around him made him a friend to many.

He was a proud member of ABATE, the Eagles, and the Patriot Guard, organizations that reflected both his love of riding and his dedication to supporting fellow veterans and their families.

Randy is survived by his children, Heather (Jeff) Franson of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Heidi (Chad) Paulson of Goodridge, Minnesota, and Hunter (Kaitlyn) Wright of Newfolden, Minnesota; grandchildren, Chloe and Aliya Franson, Blake Passa, and Luke, Jake, and Abby Paulson; siblings, Vivian Wright of Wadena, Minnesota, Janey (Richard) Schenhiet of Dassel, Minnesota, and Robin (Mary) Wright of Dassel, Minnesota; his faithful dog, Bear; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Janice Wright; brothers, Rick Wright and Raymond Wright in infancy; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Gary Sweno; his best friend, Keith Schmalz; and his companion, Buck.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A private graveside service will be held at Rindal Cemetery at a later date.

Randy will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of family and friends, his adventurous spirit, and the countless memories he created with those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the stories shared around campfires, at the lake, on open roads, and in the hearts of all who knew him.
