Obituary


Raymond Aandal, 84, died Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his home in rural Goodridge, MN.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, February 12, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church, Goodridge, MN with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at Germantown Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to the service at the church, Friday.

Raymond Henry Aandal was born March 7, 1925 on the family farmstead in Grand Plain Township, the son of John (a Norwegian immigrant) and Dora (Dau) Aandal. He was baptized on July 10, 1925 and confirmed at Germantown Zion Lutheran Church. He attended school District #76 in Marshall County through the 8th grade and stayed home to work on the family farm.

On March 1, 1947, Raymond was united in marriage to Frances Hamre by Pastor Sabo and they continued to make their home on the Aandal family farm. To this union, 4 children were born: Gary, Judy, Donald and Daniel.

Raymond was a carpenter, a miner for one winter on the Iron Range, a welder and through-out his life he owned and operated a farm of small grains and livestock and was proud when Dan took over in 1994. Raymond continued to help through the years.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Goodridge, MN, a member of Goodridge Lions Club, the Thief River Falls Eagles for 67 years and served on Grand Plain Township Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a very social person who enjoyed visiting and family and friends.

Raymond is survived by wife, Frances, Goodridge, MN; children: Gary (Lorine) Aandal, Burnsville, MN, Judy (Bruce) Machal, Prior Lake, MN, Donald (Diane) and Daniel (Jane) Aandal all of Thief River Falls, MN; 9 grandchildren: Tracy (Jeff) Bluth, Travis (Julie) Aandal, Brenda (Jim) Hagen, Joe (Tori Jeanetta) Machal, Katie, Madeline and Christian Aandal, Beth (Joe) Scheidecker, Tyler Aandal.; 9 great grandchildren: Karlee, Alexa, Jackson, Sydney, Cailey, Zachary, Brianna, Matthew and McKenna; 2 brothers: Roy (Dottie) Aandal and Loren (Darlene) Sparby; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Hamre, Barb (Bernie) Picolet; brothers-in-law: LaVerne (Connie) Hamre and Ron (Sharon) Hamre; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents; grandparents; brother: Arlo and Marge Aandal and a brother, Morris, in infancy; nephews: John Aandal, Kevin Hamre, mother and father-in-law: Melvin and Gladys Hamre; sister-in-law, Bev Hamre; 2 brothers-in-law Leighton Hamre, Gerald Hamre, Raymond Moe and Shelden Nomeland.
