Obituary

Raymond Novak of Brooks, MN age 67, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 3, 2015 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Bill DeCrans presiding. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Terrebonne, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service with the rosary to follow on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral. Raymond Andrew Novak was born on December 30, 1947 in Grand Forks, ND to Walter and Monica (Vanyo) Novak. He attended country school at Sandsville School District #38, a one room school house near Tabor, MN. They moved to the family farmstead 3 ½ miles west of Brooks, MN in 1956. He attended Brooks Elementary School and graduated from Pershing High School in Plummer, MN in 1965. Raymond attended Moorhead State College. He then joined the Navy Reserve and served active duty in Guam. He started in 1969 as a welder at Arctic Cat, as well as helping on the family farm. He thoroughly treasured visits with family and friends, deer hunting, and enjoyed reminiscing. Raymond gave to many charitable organizations and sponsored children overseas. He was very compassionate and true to his Catholic faith. Raymond worked in partnership with his brother, Walter in dairy and grain farming until his death. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Raymond also served on the Board of Directors at the Brooks Elevator. Survivors include his siblings, Jerome (Barbara) Novak of Brooks, MN, Leonard (Marilyn) Novak of Warren, MN, Walter (Cindy) Novak of Brooks, MN, Reinette (Ray) Walter of Plummer, MN, Gerard (Kim) Novak of Thief River Falls, MN, Anita (Jack) Mattson of Bismarck, ND, Madonna (Danny) Johnson of Ames, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; and loving dog, Daisy. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Dorothy.
