Reaume "Ray" Laliberte of Thief River Falls, MN age 87 died peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at his residence with his loving family at his side. The Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Ray Laliberte will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #117, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2793 and Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard. Reaume James Laliberte was born on May 1, 1928 in Terrebonne, MN the son of Leander P. and Aurora (Brule) Laliberte. He was baptized at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Terrebonne, MN. Reaume was lovingly known as Ray for his entire life. Ray attended school in Plummer, MN graduating with the class of 1946. On June 12, 1946, Ray enlisted into service with the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Ray was Honorably Discharged on April 19, 1948 and returned to attend the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He moved to the San Francisco Bay area in California where he worked at Sears & Roebuck and also did professional photography. Ray was married to Marjorie Newell from 1968 until her death in 1988. Ray also enjoyed fishing and photography. Ray returned to live in Minnesota in 1989 and on April 8, 1994 he was united in marriage to Delores Muzzy. The couple has continued to reside in Thief River Falls and enjoy their time at the cottage at Maple Lake. Survivors include his loving wife, Delores of Thief River Falls; brother, Antonio (Margaret) Laliberte of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kenneth.
