Obituary

Rebecca Barry (age 69) passed away at her Thief River Falls home on Saturday, August 15, 2026 following a courageous battle with Leukemia. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Rebecca Marie Barry was born on May 17, 1957, to Kenneth Joseph and Rita Marie (Huot) Hagl in Moorhead, MN. She was raised in Red Lake Falls, MN, where she graduated from Lafayette High School and later continued her education at AVTI. Rebecca was baptized and confirmed into the catholic faith and throughout her life has remained grounded in the values of faith, family, hard work, and kindness.

On August 7th, 1976, Rebecca married James Barry, to that union two sons were born Timothy and Brian. Together they built a loving home centered on family. Through the years, Rebecca found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She especially treasured the time spent with her grandsons, making memories, celebrating milestones, and enjoying the everyday moments that made life special. Jim and Becky recently celebrated their 50th anniversary on Friday August 7th.

Rebecca's career reflected her strong work ethic and dedication to serving others. After graduation, she worked for Bridgeman’s, Hydra-Mac, Godfather's Pizza, and Pizza Hut, where she served as Day Manager. She later became the manager of Pennington Square, a position she faithfully held for 27 years. Following her time there, she worked at Evergreen Bakery until her retirement in 2022. Rebecca was also known for lending a helping hand whenever needed, frequently assisting Jeff Liden, catering many events in the community.

Rebecca embraced many hobbies and interests throughout her life. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, curling, spending time at the lake fishing, cross-stitching and was an avid reader. An accomplished bowler, she was proud of achieving a 600 series. Rebecca enjoyed attending and supporting her sons’ and grandsons’ activities. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed being active in her community.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, James Barry; her sons, Timothy (Kate) Barry of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, and Brian (Heather) Barry of San Antonio, Texas; her grandchildren, Jonathan (Kaitlyn) Barry, Ethan (Daniela) Barry, Brody Barry, Nikolas Barry (Alyssa Vareberg), Owen Lill, and Mason Lill; and her father, Kenneth Hagl.
