Richard Cookman, 90, died on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Richard J. Cookmark was born in Mason City, IA. on October 26, 1918 to Harvey and Pearl (Wilson) Cookman. He attended and graduated from Mason City High School and served his country honorable in the US Navy from 1936-1938. On October 21, 1938 Richard was united in marriage to Wanda E. Emery in Long Beach, CA. They spent time living in California, Arkansas, and Minnesota. Richard was known for his mechanical aptitude. There was very little that he could not fix or build. He found enjoyment in gardening, bowling, and golf.

Richard is survived by his wife Wanda; daughter, Deborah (Bruce) Pierce of Thief River Falls, MN; 2 sons, Richard (Alene) Cookman and Dennis (Donna) Cookman both of Benson, MN; 4 grandchildren; and sister Dorothy vonEps of Corona, CA.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son Harvey in 2006; brother Robert; and sister Marjorie.
