Richard Halle, 64 of Pinewood, MN formerly of Oklee, MN passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at his home.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Rick's life will be Thursday, November 10 ^th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN.  At 11;30 am there will be a time of remembrance and  Military honors presented by the Oklee American Legion Post 159 and United States Navy Honor Guard. Burial will be held at the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN at a later date.

Richard Jay Halle was born August 17, 1958, in Superior, WI the son of Arthur and Elna (Larson) Halle. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Rick attended school in Oklee, MN graduating with the class of 1976.

Following high school, Rick moved to Montana where he did logging and worked for his Uncle Ernie Larson at his Furniture and Hardware stores in Chinook. After returning to Oklee, Rick worked for local businesses including Oklee Lumber Inc, Oklee Cenex and the Brooks Elevator. He still regularly sported an Oklee Lumber cap.

In 1984, Rick entered military service with the United States Navy. He was a Naval Hospital Corpsman initially assigned with the Marines at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.  He primarily served overseas at the Naval Base in Rota, Spain with assignments in Okinawa and South Korea.   He was Honorably Discharged in 1990 and moved back to Minnesota.  He started working for Norbord Minnesota Inc in Solway, MN and made his home in rural Pinewood, MN.  He worked for the fiberboard manufacturing company over 25 years. Rick retired due to health reasons in 2014.

In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and was part of several successful teams at the Oklee Bowling Alley. He was an avid hunter and fisherman enjoying many fishing trips to Lake of the Woods and the Rainy River.

After his retirement, he took pleasure in feeding the wild turkeys and deer in his rural back woods area instead of hunting them. Rick loved attending auction sales, cutting down trees and hanging out with his good friend Phil Fore. He enjoyed the peace and tranquility of living in the woods.

Survivors include his father, Arthur of New Brighton, MN; brother, Tim (Jeanne) Halle of Gonvick, MN; half-brother, Michael (Lisa) Halle of New Brighton, MN; nephews, Alex Halle of Thief River Falls, MN and Ian (Brooke) Halle of Scottsdale, AZ; niece, Emily (Will) Schafer of New Brighton, MN; great niece; Hattie Halle of Scottsdale, AZ; along with many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Elna in 2018, his grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
