Richard Heaton, 44, died suddenly at his home in Goodridge, MN on Wednesday, August 4, 2010.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, August 9, 2010 at the Community Center in Goodridge, MN with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery, rural Goodridge, MN.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at the Community Center.
Richard Dean Heaton was born August 17, 1965 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Wallace and Patricia (Frost) Heaton. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith at Trinity in Thief River Falls. He attended school and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1985. After school, Rick worked for Arctic Cat for a short time before entering into the US Air Force. He served his country from 1986 to 1990. Rick served in Saudi Arabia in the beginning of Desert Storm in 1989. He was stationed in several places around the world and met his future wife in Wichita, KS. He was united in marriage to Yvonne Carmen Dominguez on January 9, 1988 in Wichita, KS. They lived in Oklahoma City from 1988 to 1990. Rick and Yvonne had twin boys Tomas and Mikelalen. In 1990, Rick and his family moved to Staples, MN where he attended Staples Technical College as a machinist. He graduated from school in 1993. During this time, Rick served in the Minnesota National Guard. They moved to Goodridge, MN and Rick worked for Machinewell in Grygla, MN from 1993 to 1996. He then began working at Arctic Cat until the present time. Rick was a tool and die maker at Arctic Cat and was also a small arms repair specialist in the Minnesota National Guard from 2007 to 2008. He was on the city council in Goodridge for awhile, and served as a Goodridge First Responder.
Rick enjoyed bow and rifle hunting with family and friends. There wasnt a deer, bear, or bird safe in the sights of his gun. He liked to trap animals and was an avid fisherman. Rick said he worked to keep himself supplied in worms for his fishing. He liked to go camping with his family. With Yvonne by his side, he liked to travel all over the world. Most recently they had taken a trip to China. He enjoyed scuba diving.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne, Goodridge, MN, two sons: Tomas Heaton, Goodridge, MN, Mikelalen (Shannon Pape) Heaton, Huron, SD, siblings: Gary (Judy) Heaton, Mandan, ND, Paul (Stephanie) Heaton, Goodridge, MN, David (Jill) Heaton, Coventry, CT, and Melinda (Bryan) Amiot, Staples, MN, step mother Dolly Heaton, Thief River Falls, MN, stepfamily: Kent (Gayleen) Kainz, Thief River Falls, MN, Kraig (Heidi) Kainz, Goodridge, MN, Kurt (Deanna) Kainz, Fargo, ND, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wallace and Patricia, brother Rodney, mother-in-law MaryAnn Dominguez, and his grandparents.
