Richard Hoffman, 60, of Minneapolis, MN formerly of Thief River Falls, MN died on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at his home in Minneapolis, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will follow at St. Bernards Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.
Richard Allen Hoffman was born June 15, 1949 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of George and Marcella (Lowe) Hoffman. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Richard attended schools in Thief River Falls, Greenbush, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1967.
Following high school, he attended a business school in Minneapolis, MN and earned a degree. Richard then went to work for Target in Minneapolis in their accounting department.
Within one year of starting his work at Target, Richard was the victim of a car/pedestrian accident. As a result of his accident, he rehabilitated for about two years, and was able to maintain his independence. Richard worked for a number of years at Goodwill and then spent over 20 years at the Marquette Hotel and Restaurant, where he worked in food service. Due to health issues associated with his accident, Richard retired in 2002.
He was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN where he attended weekly services. Richards faith was a very prominent part of his life.
Richard was an avid follower of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings; he also enjoyed his daily walks on Nicollet Mall with a stop at Caribou Coffee and to pick-up his Minneapolis Star Tribune. Richard was a big fan of Elvis Presley, black and white TV sitcoms, and he also did a lot of reading.
Survivors include his brother, Dennis Hoffman of Janesville, WI; sister, Paulette (Dave) Odette of Thief River Falls, MN; step-brother, Jerry Hoffman of Thief River Falls, MN; step-sister, Judy (Tim) Otto of Roseau, MN; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth (Travis Krumholz) Odette of Minneapolis, MN, Kevin Odette of Grand Forks, ND, Jordan Hoffman of Fargo, ND, Matthew (Elizabeth) Otto, MN, Jessica, Mark, Christina and Chelsea Otto all of Roseau, MN; and aunt, Helen (Walter) Magnell of Oregon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts and uncles.
