Richard Lott, age 76, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at his home in Nikiski, Alaska after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in rural Trail, MN with Pastor Joseph Abrahamson officiating. Burial to follow at Nazareth Church Cemetery. Richard Wayne Lott was born August 31, 1938 to Charles and Pearl (Evans) Lott in San Jacinto, California. As a young child his family moved to Lebanon, Oregon, and then to Flora, Oregon where he graduated high school in 1956. His family moved to Anchorage, Alaska in May 1960, then back to Nevada in 1961. He also lived and worked briefly in the state of Arizona before moving back to Alaska. Richard and his family moved to Minnesota in the 1970s, living in the Goodridge area before moving back to Alaska in the 1980s. Over the years Richard worked a number of jobs, including building the airport in Seward, roads in Kenai and on the oil fields of the north slope. He worked on seismograph trails, was the owner and operator of a halibut fishing boat and spent 10 years in Dutch Harbor as a grader operator and mechanic. Richard was a member of the Elks Club of Kenai. In his spare time, he liked to play the guitar, visit with family and friends, and fly his plane. He loved to cook, and was also an avid mechanic, hunter and fisherman. He married his current wife, Vicki, in Kauai, Hawaii on January 17, 2003. Richard is survived by one brother, Ron (June) Lott of Pocatello, ID, his wife Vicki of Nikiski, AK, daughters Melody Lott of Everett, WA, Donna (Ron) Benson of Big Lake, AK, April (Andrew) Schneider Vadnais Heights, MN, Jolene Holthusen of Grygla, MN, Amy (Craig) Conner of Buxton, ND, and daughter-in-law Joy Lott of Arlington, WA, as well as sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marjorie, only son Richard, his first wife Alta and second wife Verna.
