Richard Allen Nissen, age 60, of Forest Lake, MN, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Richard was preceded in death by his father; nieces; and grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Alice Nissen; daughter, Jody (Darren) Daltry; son, Matt (Monica) Prude; siblings, Diane Eide (Ed) Kaiser, Lonny (Deb) Nissen, Catherine Wilson, Rodney Nissen; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and cherished nieces and nephews. Richard was an U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Richard's creativity and kind-heartedness endeared him to those he met. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Silverton Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls, MN. Military honors provided by VFW Post 2793, American Legion Ecklund-Holmstrom Post 117 and the Minnesota National Guard. Arrangements entrusted to Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN.
