Obituary

Richard Peterson, 63, died on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at his home in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Greg Schram officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 5, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer service on Monday evening and also one hour prior to the service, at the church on Tuesday.

Richard Erling Peterson was born on April 9, 1943 in Nome, ND, the son of Goodwin and Martha (Solie) Peterson. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on May 2, 1943 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith on June 1, 1958. Richard attended Nome Public School. Richard joined the United States Army National Guard on March 24, 1964. He was with the Specialist Five HHC 141st Engineer Battalion and received a citation for Rifle Marksman on June 10, 1968. Richard was Honorably Discharged on January 6, 1970.

Richard was united in marriage to Nora J. Qualey on August 3, 1968 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He farmed the family farm, worked at the Turkey Plant at Valley City, ND, the Hatchery in Thief River Falls, MN and Northern Pride, also in Thief River Falls. He enjoyed woodworking and in his earlier years he loved to fish and hunt.

He was a member of the Eagles Club and a previous member of the American Legion in Thief River Falls.

Richard is survived by his wife, Nora, of Thief River Falls, MN; three children: Dianne C. (Greg) Clinton of Hallock, MN, Dawn C. Adelman and Duane C. Peterson, both of Thief River Falls, MN; four grandchildren: Denise A. Clinton, Karrissa D. Adelman, Ashley M. Adelman and Nicholas P. Adelman.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gilman; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Maxine and John Qualey; and brother-in-law, Paul Qualey.
