Richard Semrud, 48, died Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at Riverview Hospital, Crookston, MN.


Richard Ray Semrud was born March 11, 1957 at St. Lukes Hospital, St. Paul, MN, the son of Ray Allen and Margaret (Schoppenhurst) Semrud. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, Bloomington, MN and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Farmington, MN. He attended grade school at Farmington and then attended school in Thief River Falls, MN, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1975. He went on to attend Aviation Technical School and graduated in 1977. He sold Combine Insurance for a year and also worked for Minnko Building Systems and GW and Son Construction both of Grand Forks, ND.

On May 12, 1984, Richard was united in marriage to Cindy Mathieu at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN.

Richard was a member of the Thief River Falls Hockey Association and City Hockey League. He enjoyed the Vikings, sports, hockey, hunting, fishing, camping and picking on everyone. He especially loved spending time with his children.

Survived by daughters, Kristen Knutson-Semrud, Fosston, MN and Meghan, Thief River Falls, MN; son, Ryan, Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Alex, Anthony and Avery; father, Ray, southern Minnesota; brothers and sisters, Margaret (John) Semrud-Clikeman, Austin, TX, David Wilson Semrud, Fargo, ND, Karen Marie (Don) Cameron, Moorhead, MN, Laurie Jean Semrud, West Fargo, ND and Amy Lee (Keith) Steva, San Jose, CA; 9 nieces and nephews; 1 great nephew and 1 great niece.

Preceded in death by mother, Margaret, grandparents and sister, Kathryn Peterson.
