Obituary

Rick Taylor, 55, of Thief River Falls, MN, died suddenly July 10th 2013 at his home of a massive stroke. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2013. A light lunch will be served after the service. A family burial service will follow at the St. Hilaire Cemetery. Rick Taylor was born Dec 7th 1957 to John & Donna Morin Taylor in Thief River Falls MN and grew up in St. Hilaire MN. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and was stationed for a period of time in Okinawa Japan. He traveled the states for a few years and lived in Minneapolis, MN until he moved back to Thief River Falls in the early 90's where he worked at Crystal Sugar and eventually began working at the Northern Pride Turkey Plant for the past 20 years. Rick loved many things. He loved his garden. He had his Dad's green thumb and shared his bounty with many neighbors & friends. He also loved snowmobiling. He prayed for an early snow and a late thaw every year, and he loved 2013 when we had record cold and late season blizzards. Rick loved to fish. He ice fished in the winter and all summer. His family would complain that he rarely attended gatherings as he would go fishin' any chance he would get. Rick loved his cell phone because it connected to his beloved daughter and grandsons. His phone also helped him brag about his garden, his big fish, and his snowmobile. Most of all, he loved his daughter, Jeni Rose and her two sons, Collin & Aedyn. He bought a truck this year and was already planning a cross country trip down to see his grandsons after his seasonal layoff began in December. He is survived by his daughter Jeni Rose (Eric Carroll) and her two sons Collin (6) and Aedyn (3); siblings Joseph (Judy) Taylor of Thief River Falls, Allen (Michele) Taylor of Wisconsin Rapids, Shirley Brown of Coon Rapids MN, Dawn (John) Noel of West Fargo ND, Diane (Greg) Bulger of St. Hilaire MN, Dennis Taylor of St. Hilaire, MN, Frank Taylor of Fayetteville NC, and Barb (Rich) Drabant of Blaine MN, many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and sister Sharon who passed away less than 4 months ago.
