Robert (Bob) Anderson of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Wednesday, February 07, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Darrel Cory Officiating.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 4– 6 PM with a 6:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Robert Truman Anderson was born May 11, 1947 at Mercy Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN son of Victor and Thelma (Kolden) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church of Middle River and graduated from Middle River High School in 1965. He attended Bemidji State College graduating in 1969 with a B.S. Degree in Teaching. Bob & Jan started their teaching careers in Ogilvie, MN.

On December 23, 1967 Bob was united in marriage to Janet Aune at United Lutheran Church Gatzke, MN.  To this union 4 children were born Karl, Steven, Nathan and Sara. Bob and Jan celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December.

In July of 1970 Bob entered the US Airforce and was stationed at Ellsworth Airforce Base in Rapid City, SD. Bob earned his master's degree in School Counseling while serving in the Airforce. Following his honorable discharge in 1974 Bob returned to Ogilvie as a High School Guidance Counselor. He later went on to earn a Specialist Degree in Education Administration. Bob served as principal and superintendent in several community school districts including Red Lake Falls and Middle River-Greenbush. At the age of 42 Bob was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis resulting in his early retirement in 1993. Bob and Jan have lived in Thief River Falls since his retirement, hosting family, friends, caregivers, and attending grandchildren events.

Bob was a lifelong learner who enjoyed politics, studying world religions, reading, camping, fishing and science. Bob had a great off the wall sense of humor. Bob's greatest joy in life were his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Bob is survived by his loving wife and caregiver Jan, children Karl Anderson of Coon Rapids, MN, Steven (Lisa) Anderson of St. Cloud, MN, Nathan (Kiki) Anderson of Thief River Falls, MN, Sara (John Buncher) Anderson of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren Ingrid and Paul Anderson; siblings Patricia (Robert) Swan of Madison, WI, Maxine (Edward) Monson of Gatzke, MN, Juneve (David) Givers of Fargo, ND, Calvin Anderson of Winona, Minnesota, Donald (Darlene) Anderson of Osceola, Wisconsin, Wanda Johaneson of Princeton, MN along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, step father Robert Joe Toren, nephews Casey Johaneson and Tom Monson.
