Robert "Bob" Anderson, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at his home, at the age of 85.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Fr. Craig Vasek presiding.  Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.  A continuation of the celebration will be held after the burial at the VFW Post #2793 in Thief River Falls.  A Light luncheon will be served.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Service.

Robert James Anderson was born on June 5, 1940 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Harold and Katie (Langevin) Anderson.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.  Bob graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958.

Following high school Bob enlisted with the United States Navy, serving 6 years on the USS Capricornus (AKA-57) as a Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class.  Bob was especially proud of his son, Derrick that followed in his footsteps.  Bob and his shipmates had the opportunity to be in the filming of the movie PT 109.  Bob was honorably discharged in 1965.

On April 24, 1965 Bob was united in marriage to the love of his life, Charlette (Jane) Hoglo in Thief River Falls, MN.  Through this marriage he adopted his daughter Colette and later, together, they adopted their daughter Georgette, and sons, Rob, and Derrick.  Through the years they fostered many children.  There was one that was very special to the family – little Buddy, Darren Carter.

Bob learned the trade of a carpenter from his uncle Raymond.  Over the years he built homes, remodeled homes, laid carpet, and would teach anybody the trade if you were willing to work.

Bob was always willing to give a hand.  He loved woodworking, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed reading.  Bob loved his wife.  He and Jane were known for their love of music and dancing.

Bob will be remembered as a true confidante, always willing to listen.  He never judged but gave the best advice.  He had a unique way of putting things into perspective.  Bob was loved by many and will be truly missed.

Bob is survived by his children, Colette (Brian) Voecks of Thief River Falls, MN, Georgette (Darren) Philipp of Thief River Falls, MN, Robert (Lorna) Anderson of Plymouth, MN, and Derrick (Regan) Anderson of Moore, OK; grandchildren, Justin (Tessa) Voecks, Jared (Ashli) Voecks, Lacey (Reece) Henrickson, Dalton Philipp, Dylan Philipp, Jessica Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Bethany Anderson, Arthur Anderson; great-grandchildren, Kendall Voecks, Josslyn Voecks, Nash Voecks, Nico Voecks, Weslen Voecks, Daxton Henrickson, Whitley Henrickson, and Cameron Dimich; siblings, Roger (Palma) Anderson of Thief River Falls, MN, Bruce (Kris) Anderson of Minneapolis, MN, Scott Anderson of Wausau, WI, and Kathy (Rod) Rein of Wausau, WI; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Charlette (Jane); and his parents, Harold and Katie.
